Graduation Requirements

To receive a diploma from Central York High School, a learner must demonstrate satisfactory completion of 28 credits. These credits must come from a combination of required courses and electives. No course can be used to fulfill more than one graduation requirement.

Learners will take the Keystone Exams for Algebra I, English II, and Biology as required by Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) as one of the options to meet graduation requirements for the class of 2022 and beyond. PDE has also provided alternate pathways to meeting graduation requirements.

GRADUATION CREDIT REQUIREMENTS:

Language Arts 4 credits
Mathematics 3 credits
Social Studies 3 credits (one credit for each of US History, Global Studies and Citizenship)
Science 3 credits (one credit for each of Earth Science, Chemistry, and Biology)
Health/Phys Ed/Driver Ed 2 credits
Electives 13 credits
Total Credits Required 28 credits

ACT 158 Graduation Requirement Information

Act 158 of 2018 provides an outline of five distinct pathways to meet graduation requirements starting with the graduating class of 2023. The five pathways include the Keystone Proficiency Pathway, Keystone Composite Pathway, Alternate Assessment Pathway, Evidence-Based Pathway, and the Career and Technical Education Pathway. In order to be in compliance with Act 158, students must demonstrate high school proficiency by meeting at least one of the 5 Pathways for graduation.
