Grieving the Loss of a CYHS Staff Member

The Central York Community mourns the loss of Miss Erin Walker, a social studies teacher at Central York High School.

Dear Parents and Families:

It is with tremendous sadness that I must share with you that Miss Erin Walker, a social studies teacher and student advisor at Central York High School and a Central York faculty member for the last 13 years, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022. We are deeply saddened by the loss, and our heartfelt sympathies are with her family and friends at this very difficult time.

We understand that this sad news may impact your child. Please know that we will have counselors available to support any students who need to talk with someone in the coming days. We have attached resources that may help you support your child at home. We will continue to be a resource as well here at school for our students as they work through the grieving process.

Miss Walker touched the lives of hundreds of students during her years of service in Central York School District. We feel fortunate for the time we have spent with her. She was a tremendous teacher and an outstanding person, and we are very saddened by her loss. In addition, should students wish to leave items in Miss Walker's memory, they may do so at the Panther statue in front of the High School main entrance.

If we can be of assistance to you or your family in any way, please do not hesitate to contact the District via email at communications@cysd.k12.pa.us or by phone at 717-846-6789, ext. 1292.

Sincerely,

Peter J. Aiken, Ed.D.
