SCHOLASTIC WRITING CONTEST

THE SCHOLASTIC WRITING CONTEST is a national writing contest. Our students compete with students in Central Pennsylvania and possibly from across the country addressing many types of writing. If you are interested in writing for the contest, see Ms. Erin McDaniel in room 537 for a list of writing types and requirements. Senior entrants are allowed to enter a portfolio in the contest. See the guide for details.

English III

Welcome to English III

Welcome to American Literature! During this semester, we'll be reading, discussing, and writing about works of literature from the various peoples that make up America. We'll be looking at what was important to them, how their world shaped their writing, how their writings shaped their world, and how similar or different those effects are on us today. As we do this, we will be focusing on the goals of improving your vocabulary, your reading comprehension, your critical thinking skills, and your writing skills.

STUDENTS HAVE FREE CHOICE WHEN PICKING BOOKS. THEY MUST HAVE A BOOK WITH THEM AT ALL TIMES. BOOKS ARE AVAILABLE IN THE SCHOOL LIBRARY OR IN THE CLASSROOM LIBRARY TO BE CHECKED OUT AT ANY TIME.
