Welcome to the Central York High  School Counseling Office website

Our department includes six school counselors and a career counselor. Learn more about each counselor by clicking on the "Meet the Counselors" tab to your left.

School counselors work with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and individuals from the community to ensure that students have every opportunity for success in school. We are here to help and hope you will let us know when a need arises.

2018 Summer School Information

Central York High School is committed to ensuring the academic success of ALL learners. Summer School is an opportunity for learners to earn credits for credit recovery or credit advancement. Credit recovery is for those individuals who have previously attempted a course and failed. Credit advancement is for those individuals who want to earn additional credits for graduation. All instruction is through Odysseyware, an entirely computer-based online program which is supervised by Central York School District certified teachers.

Registration

Learners should see their counselor for the appropriate registration form. Forms and payment will be accepted in the Counseling Office from 7:30am until 2:30pm:   May 31 - June 4: Class of 2018 Non-Graduates

June 5 - June 14:  All CYHS students

Payment

Summer school for credit recovery costs $150 per course.

Summer school Driver Education costs $88.

Summer school for credit advancement is offered at no cost to students.

Payment is due at time of registration. Checks should be made payable to Central York High School. The district offers supportive assistance to make it possible for ALL learners to participate, regardless of financial situation. For more information or if you have any questions about financial assistance, please work with your school counselor. If learner withdraws after June 14th at 2:30 p.m., no refund will be issued. Withdrawals prior to June 14th will result in $10 withdrawal fee.


Credit Recovery Operating Rules

Each learner may take 1 or 2 courses in summer school for credit recovery. Each class costs $150. Learners may attend only one session, even if they are taking 2 courses. Learners may not take more than two courses.

Summer School will be in session from June 18 through July 20, 2018, Mondays through Thursdays

Session 1:  8:00 am – 11:00 am  / Session 2: 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Seats for credit recovery are limited. Preference will be given to non-graduating seniors and then to learners who need additional credits to be promoted to 12th grade.  Credit Recovery learners must provide their own transportation to Central York High School.Learners enrolling in CYHS Summer School for credit recovery are expected to be present every day until they finish the course(s) in which they are enrolled.  Learners will not be excused for vacation (there is no school July 3rd & 4th). Tardiness will not be tolerated. The Central York High School Code of Conduct Rules will be in place during summer classes.  One violation of the Code of Conduct will result in immediate withdrawal from the class with no refund.

Driver Education Operating Rules

Each learner may take Driver Education and, if interested, 1 other course in summer school for either credit recovery or advancement. Learners taking Driver Education for advancement must also take Health & Physical Education through Odysseyware Academy. Driver Education costs $88.00 and requires the learner to be present at Central York High School for either Session 1 (8:00 am – 11:00 am) or Session 2 (12:00 pm – 3:00 pm)

Each learner may take 1 or 2 courses in summer school for credit advancement. Learners will work independently from home to complete their course work and will have 5 weeks to complete their course(s).

Please note that CYHS Summer School course offerings do not meet NCAA requirements.

The district offers supportive assistance to make it possible for ALL students to participate, regardless of financial situation.
