York County Regional College Fair
You're invited to a one-of-a-kind regional college fair, hosted by York College of Pennsylvania.
Explore more than 120 colleges, universities, military and technical schools at the York Regional Fair on Oct. 15 at York College of Pennsylvania from 6 pm to 8 pm. The fair is free and there's no registration required — just show up and meet with representatives from schools across the country. The event is geared toward high school students and their families, as well as transfer students and adult learners. Questions? Contact Nan Smith, York College's Senior Associate Director of Admissions, at 717.815.1769 or nasmith@ycp.edu.

From the Health Room
There is an additional immunization requirement for entrance into 12th grade, Meningococcal (MCV) 16-year dose.  It is important that parents/guardians of current 11th graders confirm with your healthcare provider that your child is up-to-date with all required immunizations for entering 12th grade.  We strongly encourage parents/guardians to have this vaccination administered this spring while your child is still in the 11th grade and documentation given to the Health Room so it can be entered into each student’s electronic health record. You can scan them to mdonner@cysd.k12.pa.us, fax them to 717-840-2705, or drop them off to the nurse’s office.

Cold and flu season will be here soon.  Cold medicine must be given at home. We do not have a doctor’s order to give this during the school day.  There are 12 hour cold medicines available at your local pharmacy.  Student are NOT permitted to carry cold/flu medicine, but students are permitted to carry cough drops in school as long as they are in the original packaging and they have a permission note signed by their parent or guardian.  The note needs to be kept in their backpack along with their cough drops and they are not permitted to share them with other students.

Cold and flu germs are easily spread by sneezing or coughing. In order to prevent infecting people around you, keep a tissue in the close vicinity, throw it away after you used it and wash your hands. Droplets – after coughing or sneezing that stay on your fingers – can easily be passed on other objects and surfaces, such as door handles, computer keyboards, desks or dishes. Also, avoid touching your nose or eyes.

From the Career Center
If you are a Junior or Senior interested in a career in manufacturing, the Career Center will be taking a tour of Crescent Industries on October 3rd as part of National Manufacturing week.  Please stop by Career Center to pick up a permission slip. It is on a first come, first serve basis.
