Illustration Of A Snowman.pngCurrent Unit: Nervous System

The nervous system is involved with all activities of the body including feeling, thinking, remembering, moving, and being aware of the world around us.  The cells of the nervous system coordinate all body functions in helping us to maintain homeostasis.  Sensory information is relayed to the brain and then a response is stimulated to muscles and glands.  In this section, we will learn about how the cells communicate with one another in the Central Nervous System and Peripheral Nervous system to receive and send messages throughout the body.  We will especially focus on the brain and spinal cord during this unit and discover how complex the brain really is. Topics like hemispheral dominance, neuroplasticity, as well as the latest research on dementia-related diseases will be investigated as well.
